Every act of kindness–no matter what the size–can have lasting and positive impact on the world around us. At Habitat, we have always known this to be true.
As we grapple with the economic and health implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how it will impact the people we serve, it is inspirational to our team when an individual or business steps forward to lend a hand up… because even little things can add up to a lot.
Like $5. By placing a call to local State Farm agent Dan Burton for a quote during April and mentioning Habitat’s name, Dan will donate $5 to Habitat through the Quotes for Good initiative. With enough calls, this $5 can grow quickly, helping us serve a family who might have trouble making their mortgage payments right now because of lost wages. Or perhaps it will enable us to purchase the materials needed to complete any of the five homes under construction… homes that will offer our Habitat families a safe place to weather storms such as this one.
Dan can be reached Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at (717) 569-8266. The call is simple, free and can do a world of good for people in need of a decent place to call home.
Likewise, local business Custom Plumbing & Heating is using their team’s skills and know-how to help residents with repairs. They are currently offering flexible repayments for their services. Last month, Custom representative Barry led a great homeownership workshop on plumbing for our Habitat homebuyers and community residents (see photo here), teaching them small home fix-it projects to help our families save money in their home.
Custom Plumbing & Heating is located in Lancaster and serves Lancaster, Harrisburg and York. The office number is (717) 299-7199.
