Kala and her family made a Habitat milestone this month by selecting her future Habitat home from our inventory. Known as “house match,” this decision is the next step towards realizing dreams of homeownership.
Kala’s choice? A new build on Fremont Street in Lancaster City’s SoWe neighborhood… just doors down from Habitat homebuyer Ivelisse, who celebrated her home dedication at the end of 2023. The home will be built in its entirety by Ebersole Builders, LLC as an in-kind contribution to Habitat. This is not only a generous gift towards our Open Doors fundraising goal, but it frees up our staff time to work on other home projects so we can build faster.
Right now, the site is simply an empty lot, but Kala fell in love with the architectural renderings and knew it was right for her when she got that “butterfly feeling,” as she described. Additionally, the street is at the end of her USPS carrier route, and always gives her a feeling of calm as she walks the block delivering mail.
