While the pandemic has kept us inside, the news of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and so many others have pushed many out. We want safety. We want justice. And we want peace.
As community builders, our Habitat hearts are broken.
No one should live in fear because of the color of their skin. We are all human. We are all children of God. There is no room for racism in our community.
Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone has the right to a safe, decent home. And that belief extends to the neighborhoods and communities where we live. Every person deserves the opportunity to live a life free of fear born from their race, national origins or cultural affiliations.
Although Habitat for Humanity is best-known as a home builder, homes are merely the vehicle for us to change lives and lift up neighborhoods. We bring people from all over to work alongside new friends they might not otherwise would have met. Houses are the pots. Families are the beautiful plants. Communities are the gardens where our work grows.
We encourage everyone to listen. We encourage everyone to show compassion. We encourage everyone to help heal.
